Approved recycling bags (40 gallon bags) are available to purchase for $5.00 each (cash only) at these locations:
Drop off your plastic recycle bags on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month between 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Plastic recycle bags can be purchased on-site during those 2 hours or at one of the locations listed above during business hours.

- Lamar Public Works Office located at 103 North 2nd Street, Lamar, CO 81052
- Business Hours: Mondays-Fridays from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM
- Cornerstone Resource Center located at 111 West Parmenter Street, Lamar, CO 81052
- Business Hours: Mondays-Thursday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM and Fridays from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM

We accept #1, #2, and #5 plastic items in approved recycling bags.
- Remove lids from bottles before placing both in the approved recycle bags.
- Tie recycle bags with a simple bowties, no knots please.
- Make sure containers are empty & clean.
- Please don’t cut up plastic as we sort it by type before baling & shipping

Accepted Material
Plastic bottles and containers #1 #2 & #5
TIP: Always look for a number #1 #2, and #5 when recycling your plastics
- PET: Soda bottles, water bottles most single use drinking bottles—Please remove lids from all bottles before placing both in the approved green bags
- HDPE: Milk bottles, detergent bottles, soap bottles, large supplement tubs, triple rinsed chemical jugs
TIP: Always look for a number #1 #2, and #5 when recycling your plastics
Non-Acceptable/Recyclable Plastics
- Styrofoam is not recyclable.
- No bags of any kind—grocery, produce, candy wrappers, food wrap, Ziploc, trash bags and most pet food bags
- No plastic film—bubble wrap, clear plastic wrap, 6-pack plastic, frozen vegetable or meat bags
- No cassette tapes, 8-track tapes compact disc jackets
- No PVC pipe
- No hazardous materials, oil, grease, plastic containers with chemicals
- No cardboard of any kind
Non-Acceptable Plastics:
#3 PVC: bottles, containers, pipes
#4 LDPE: bottles, containers
#6 PS: compact disc jackets, tableware, containers, styrofoam
#7 Other: reusable bottles, etc.
Electronics (eWaste) Recycling
As of December 31, 2024, Lamar Main Street no longer accepts E-Waste, but the City of Lamar does! The Lamar Landfill accepts eWaste Monday - Saturday 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM for a nominal fee. Please visit https://ci.lamar.co.us/landfill for more details regarding E-Waste recycling.
