​Approved recycling bags are available for $5 each at the Lamar Public Works Office.

103 N. 3rd Street, Lamar, CO 

 Return filled bags at the red container @ Lamar Public Works.  It is located
just west of the tan recycling tubs for cardboard, glass, and metal.

We accept plastic and eWaste by appointment only and items must be in the approved recycle bags.
Remove lid from the bottles before placing both in the approved recycle bags.
Tie recycle bags with a simple bowtie, no knots please.

Accepted Material

Plastic bottles and containers #1 #2 & #5

1. PET: Soda bottles, water bottles most single use drinking bottles—Please remove lids from all bottles before placing both in the approved green bags
2. HDPE:  Milk bottles, detergent bottles, soap bottles, large supplement tubs, triple rinsed chemical jugs

       5.  PP - Medicine bottles, dairy tubs, bailing twine

TIP:  Always look for a number #1 #2, and #5 when recycling your plastics

Non-Acceptable/Recyclable Plastics

1. Styrofoam is not recyclable
2. No bags of any kind—grocery, produce, candy wrappers, food wrap, Ziploc, trash bags and most pet food bags
3. No plastic film—bubble wrap, clear plastic wrap, 6-pack plastic, frozen vegetable or meat bags
4. No cassette tapes, 8-track tapes compact disc jackets
5. No PVC pipe
6. No hazardous materials, oil, grease, plastic containers with chemicals
7. No cardboard of any kind

TIP:  Always look for a number #1 #2, and #5 when recycling your plastics

Electronics (eWaste) Recycling

As of 12/31/2024, LPI no longer accepts eWaste, but the City of Lamar does!  The Lamar Landfill accepts eWaste  Monday - Saturday 8:30 am - 3:30 pm for a nominal fee.
